who is a really successful manager? a manager who spends less money, or the one who earns more? a manager who can survive for a longer period of time, or an administrator who expands his organization, and opens up new branches? which one is the most successful? the article tries to answer these questions and provides, some simple guidlines for the managers in every domain of management who want to move ahead. a successful manager is a person who can reach his goals. therefore, the first step is to set up the goals and to identify the priorities. planning and policy making come next. specific goals not only identify the direction, but also set up good criteria, based on which we can evaluate or performances to make sure that everything is going well. as managers, we should be prepared to deal with the future and in this regard, we should be able to reply to the following questions. 1- what are the goals to be achieved? 2- how should we accomplish our job? what are the policies, procedures, techniques, etc.? 3- who is to implement the plan? which section or department.? 4- what kind of resources do we need and how much? human, capital, and physical resources play an important role in achieving our goals. 5- what about timing? when should we start the plan and put an end to it? time ls always a determining factor. 6- how should we control the system and how is it possible to adjustments be made? how can we improve our efficiency? 1- do not waste your time doing jobs of little importance. have a list of things to do based on thier priorities. 2- being organized is a focal point and central factor. start the order from yourself and let others learn from you. 3- increase your knowledge and expertise as much as you can, your personnel and colleagues will be impressed. 4- not only are technical skills important, but overall information and awareness of the field and the world view are necessary for a good top level manager. 5- learn about your weaknesses and your strengths. make the best use of your strongest abilities and try to overcome your weaknesses. 6- the harm of even one enemy is too much. have and restore good and pleasant relationship with others. do not let people feel a danger from your side. let them believe that your presence is a complementary factor to all of them. 7- soliciting participation of others is a main factors in being successful. do not try to do every thing by yourself. leave part of the job for your colleagues. 8- as a manager, you are not responsible only for more sales or higher profit. a sucessful manager is a person who cares for the problems of his society at large.he also takes part in solving the problems of others and his society to the possible extent.
